Trump says Fort Hood shooter's execution will not be livestreamed
President Donald Trump said Thursday that the December 3 firing squad execution of Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people and wounded 32 in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, will not be livestreamed, reversing the Pentagon's plan. Trump said victims' immediate families may view the execution in person at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The decision follows growing opposition and a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll finding 80% of Americans opposed streaming it, over concerns it could become a terrorist recruiting tool. Hasan, convicted by court-martial in 2013, would be the first person executed by the US military since 1961.
