Sánchez calls Spanish election for November 29
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called a snap general election for November 29 after parliament rejected his government’s housing package. The 54-year-old leader, in office since 2018, framed the vote as a choice between a far-right coalition and Spain’s social-democratic direction, while the People’s Party and Vox remain the leading alternatives in recent polling. The election comes amid housing protests, corruption allegations, migration pressures and legislative deadlock, despite strong economic growth and low unemployment.
